So first off to all my students – thank you for your patience and understanding with the lack of interest connectivity tonight. Though we had to make a last minute shift in plans for the evening, I think we had a productive and insightful class.
For those who don’t know, there was a fiber-optic cable cut in South Denver that resulted in half of the city losing internet connectivity for hours. I had a presentation prepared, which you can find here, but due to the requirement for internet connectivity we had to have a change of plan!
What we ended up doing was sitting together as a group and work-shopping project ideas together, and discussing what skillsets we would need in order to tackle those projects. Overwhelmingly we discovered that we needed circuits and microcontroller programming skills in order to address almost every project mentioned. Additionally, many students had interests in IoT and 3D printing, so I will be sure to bring those into the curriculum as we move forward.
Worth noting, the Feather HUZZAH ESP8266 microcontrollers have been ordered from Adafruit and should be arriving within the next week.
