Class Update

Hello all,
It really has been a pleasure having all the boys in STEM Stars. I am so impressed by the community they have built and the leadership, ambition, and kindness they have all shared. I sent each parent a one-on-one email with an update on their student’s progress in the class, and I wanted to send this email to highlight some of the big bullet points!

TLDR (Too Long, Didn’t Read):

IMPORTANT CLASS NOTIFICATIONS

  1. STEM Stars will be posting on SSA Social Media Mondays and Wednesdays – follow us!
  2. Class blog will be updated by end of week
  3. Students, don’t forget your project supplies each class!

If you aren’t following Silicon STEM Academy on social media yet, I highly encourage you to do so! 2. Class blog will be updated by end of week

I apologize for falling behind on our class updates on our blog! I have the posts pending upload and will push them all to the website later on this week! Check out the class website for photos, posts and more! www.SSAstemstars.com

3. Students, don’t forget your project supplies each class!

I know most of you have been bringing them, but don’t forget that if you bring your materials home, you need to make sure you bring them all back to class. Furthermore, if there are additional items you anticipate needing for class, always email or message me on Slack ahead of time so I can be sure to have what you need! Don’t forget your cables (micro-usb, usbA, etc.)!

4. Join our class community on Slack!

How to Join Information:
If you have not already done so, parents, please join us on Slack! Slack is a team messaging app often utilized in engineering companies to work on team projects outside the office. We use Slack to communicate needs for projects, to share our work, and to cultivate a nerdy and supportive community in and out of class. Our student admin, ambassador, and former student, Jack Hall, provides additional oversight and energy to our group. Please follow the links above to join!

5. SSA STEM Stars Summer Survey

Survey Link:
The last class of the Spring is scheduled as April 11th (no classes March 26th or 28th). If you have not already done so, please take 3 minutes of your time to fill out this 3-question interest survey to see how I can best meet parent and student needs through the end of the Spring and through the Summer!

6. Class Office Hours

Class office hours go from 4:30pm – 5:00pm (start of class) and 6:30pm (end of class) – 7:00pm. Students and parents feel free to join me and my Jr. Instructor during this time to get additional project help, learn more about what your student is working on, or even get some homework done! This is also the time to see me if a student is having any issues with a personal computer – I am not able to address these issues during class! If there is ever a change to this schedule I will give advanced notice.
Thank you all for making this class such a pleasure to be a part of. As always, if you have any comments, questions, or concerns, feel free to reach out any time.
